Fields of intervention: architecture, landscape design

The project is a high-end residential development consisting of eleven individual villas in Mesa Chorio, a town just a few kilometers inland from the coastal town of Paphos on the western side of Cyprus.

Located at 240m above sea level, the plot offers spectacular views of the Mediterranean Sea, with the site morphology greatly influencing the design approach to the project. A 15m slope determined the strategic direction and the overall concept: three cascading platforms of diverse villas placed in such a way that each unit commands unimpeded views of the sea.

The masterplan was designed in such a way that any traffic is hidden from view and the main parking areas are located below the two lower platforms. The highest and lowest areas of the plot are destined to be communal gardens for the enjoyment of residents.

There are three villa typologies: three-bedroom, seven-bedroom and eight-bedroom, ranging from 380 sqm to 1,340 sqm, all of which feature clear, open spaces that take full advantage of the natural light. The three- and seven-bedroom units have been placed on the lower platforms and follow an L-shaped plan where the living areas are located at ground level and the sleeping areas on the first floor, while the eight-bedroom villas are set on the third and highest platform, neighboring the communal garden.

The clean and decisive forms of the design and the use of local materials together valorize and accentuate the connection to the vernacular context.
