Alpi
- Honduras

2020

The Alpi Honduras wood becomes part of the Wood Collection - Legacy, a series curated by Piero Lissoni that takes its inspiration from a selection of lost species – such as ebony, teak, wenge, rosewood and zebrawood – which are threatened with extinction, have limited supplies or are even forbidden from use. In this collection, Alpi focuses its research on the identity of the material, by means of the company’s fascinating production procedure, achieving the objective of reproducing the material essence of various wood types, bringing out their intrinsic characteristics. With this unique, sustainable collection, Alpi offers ecological wood products with properties equal to those no longer available from nature, making possible its use.

“Every time I think about mahogany I think of a very noble wood that has crossed the centuries due to the beauty of its texture, its grain, color and durability. When we thought about reinterpreting mahogany with Alpi, I imagined a refined home, the houses designed by great architects in California and Europe. I also thought about the objects found inside Japanese homes and about ships, the beauty of these floating vessels, the appeal of the Dolce Vita and the Mediterranean… for me, mahogany implies this entire world. This time we are providing a particularly intelligent type of mahogany, a passe-partout wood, timeless, a legacy of centuries. I like the idea of bringing it back to life.” Piero Lissoni

Piero Lissoni has been art director of Alpi since 2015, and over the years he has guided the company’s inimitable style, designing products, showrooms, fair stands and communications tools. Lissoni Graphx develops the company’s creative strategy and corporate identity, from the initial concept to the realization of catalogues, invitations, website content, video productions and advertising campaigns, as well as the conception and organization of special events.
