The installation designed by Piero Lissoni highlighted the material, historical and artistic value of the works, placing them on neutral structures reminiscent of American minimalist art. The idea behind the exhibition was to consider Bernardino Luini as a contemporary painter and featured a series of monoliths that were used to display over 200 artworks while leaving the wall free of adornment.
The large backdrops made it appear as if the paintings were
in dialogue with Palazzo Reale.
