Best of Both Worlds: ITALY. Arte e Design in Italia 1915 – 2025

From 1st April to 15th June 2025, the ADI Design Museum in Milan will be hosting the exhibition Best of Both Worlds: ITALY. Arte e Design in Italia 1915 – 2025, curated by Stefano Casciani with exhibition and graphic design by Piero Lissoni and Graphx.

Through a century of exploration, projects and products, the world of Italian design has given rise to an innovative and visionary universe — an autonomous network of objects that preempts and shapes the “aesthetic society” in which we live today. Its commercial and critical success constitutes a cornerstone of the national economy and is one of Italy’s most fascinating cultural traditions for international audiences.

The exposition aims to narrate and celebrate this particular synergy between designers, artists and the industry, underscoring the strong connection that Italian design forges with the social and economic forces, as well as with the world of literature, craftsmanship and the visual, plastic and multimedia arts in particular. It is a heritage that has evolved over time, adapting to changing industrial contexts with inimitable sensitivity.

The exhibition design has been conceived as an architecture immersed within the expanse of the museum, a parallelepiped monolith enveloped by a fine and ethereal white veil. Inside, a series of white partitions, some of which are backlit, subdivide the space into different thematic areas, creating a pathway that guides the visitor in their exploration.
