Casa Sanlorenzo opening

In celebration of the first edition of Venice Climate Week and within the framework of the Venice Biennale Architettura, on Tuesday, June 3, Sanlorenzo Arts inaugurated Casa Sanlorenzo.
Designed by Lissoni & Partners, Casa Sanlorenzo is conceived as a space for research and experimentation, where artists are invited to explore new forms of expression and foster dialogue between art and society.

The building includes two interconnected spaces: Casa Sanlorenzo — a private apartment transformed into a public venue for exhibitions — and over 500 square meters dedicated to Sanlorenzo’s contemporary art collection.

The restoration was designed to respect the building’s historical identity, while areas that could not be preserved were reinterpreted through a contemporary architectural language that enhances its function as an exhibition space and creates a flexible, welcoming atmosphere.

One of the most innovative features is the glass staircase. Technological and transparent, it echoes the building’s original geometries while being reimagined in glass and steel, bringing lightness to the interiors and establishing a dialogue between materials past and present. A key architectural element is the bridge that connects Casa Sanlorenzo to the surrounding area.

“I think the opportunity to construct a bridge in Venice for Sanlorenzo Arts is rare, if not unique. Architecturally, the bridge is incredibly complex and for me it also carries a series of other connotations. In addition to connecting two different points, the bridge connects together different worlds.” Piero Lissoni
