On Thursday, February 13, 2020, Piero Lissoni sat down with critic/author Alastair Gordon, developer Allison Greenfield, and architects Alexander Gorlin and Guido Hartray for a critical conversation about adaptive re-use architecture. Lissoni’s recently completed project, the Ritz-Carlton Residences, Miami Beach, was used as a case study to illustrate considerations related to design, engineering, and sustainability when adapting existing structures for new uses. During the conversation, Lissoni remarked that adaptive re-use provides the constraints that encourage architects to do great work. The event was presented by Lionheart Capital, the developers of the Ritz-Carlton, in partnership with the Harvard Alumni Architectural and Urban Society.
