Fields of intervention: architecture, landscape design & interior design
The resort is located on one of the islands of the Turks and Caicos in the Caribbean and represents the continuation of a project that had previously remained unfinished and which had already seen the initial development of some structures.
The architectural work focused on the design of archetypal forms that reference the straw roofs of traditional constructions and are able to integrate the preexisting elements – the residences and some beach villas – as well as the new components, which include the principal facilites of the resort with the common areas, 56 rooms and new beach villas.
Great care has been taken to integrate the buildings into the natural context characterized by sand, water and luxuriant tropical vegetation, while the landscape has been designed in such a way as to bring uniformity and to mitigate the disparities between the level of the land and the construction level of the buildings, which is higher in order to offer protection from the tidal waters.
The strong interconnection between the architecture, the interiors and the landscape is particularly evident in the large lobby of the resort, which has been conceived as a covered area with open perimeters where the natural vegetation is allowed to permeate the space, giving rise to a striking internal landscape.
