Fields of intervention: architecture, landscape design & interior design

The project concerns the expansion of the Oberoi Beach Resort at Al-Zorah (UAE) with the realization of a further eight villas together with a restaurant and a swimming pool with adjoining bar.
The architecture has been developed in harmony with the preexistent resort, which is characterized by a volumetric purity where the structures are defined by a play between solids and voids and privacy of the villas is assured by a sequence of planted patios and screens.
Design continuity extends to the interiors through clean and minimal lines that are punctuated by the presence of elements originating from different cultures and by a selection of objets trouvés.

The villas comprise two suites, a day area with bar and fitness room, as well as a large external deck and infinity pool.

Generously sized windows create a seamless interaction between the inside and the luxuriant greenery of the external surroundings, as well as providing each villa with sea views. Light flows into the interiors which feature large light volumes that alternate with walls lined in artisanal ceramics, all further enriched by the use of natural fabrics and refined furnishings.

The common areas also maintain a strong link with the natural habit through the use of large vertical openings and a suspended ceiling that extends from the inside to the outside to create uniformity and esthetic continuity.

Some unexpected elements have been introduced to add further character to the spaces, such as the sculptural bar counter in burnished bronze and the use of stone with different finishes for the wall facings. The use of screens lined with a variety of fabrics in the restaurant adds warmth and intimacy without impeding the relationship with the exterior.
