Fields of intervention: architecture, interior design
and landscape design
This intervention continues on from the project realized for the same family in 2011. The aim was to design a villa that would dialogue with that building, clad entirely in travertine marble, while expressing its own distinctive character.
The project envisions a new edifice of “deconstructed” volumes, conveying lightness, covered by a large pergola aligned with the preexisting building. In this way the new villa develops in an abstract form, surmounted by a geometric and linear roof. The plan is organized around a central courtyard where the exterior is perceived as an extension of the interior, while the roofs accommodate terraces respecting the principles of traditional Mediterranean architecture. The natural materials used are closely connected to the earth, such as the handmade bricks which clad the façades and the terracotta herringbone for the interior flooring. The building is sheltered from the road and instead opens out towards the internal gardens that have been planted exclusively with native species.
